Almeria
airport is 9 kilometres to the east of the region's
capital city, 500 metres from the coast on the
gulf of Almeria and to the south of the Sierra
Alhamilla. The towns the airport are El Alquian
and Costacaban. Almería airport is located
about 10 Kilometres east of the city on the
N340 coast road (not the inland motorway).On
arrival at the Airport you may take the local
bus which travels to and fro from the town centre
every half hour between 7am and 9pm, taxis are
also available. There are several leading car
hire companies that are available at the airport.
In addition to the commercial flights of all
major airlines, numerous charter companies also
fly in and out of Almería, making it
the second most important airport in terms of
foreign tourist arrivals. However there are

reserved spaces for the disabled. Six adapted
WCs (two in the baggage reclaim, one in the

and two more lifts for entry to the boarding
house. Even the check-in desk and cafeteria
have been adapted. An Ambulift vehicle for moving
people in wheelchairs from the aircraft to the
terminal is operated by the airport handling
unit.
